In January 2003 anastacia was diagnosed with breast cancer after going for a general practise procedure mamogram in response to her enquiring about reduction surgery, thankfully, it was discovered at an early stage and she was able to suvive the agonizing treatmeant of cancer. Throughout the treatmeant Anastacia let a camera crew follow her throughtout the bad and the good to help raise awareness of this disease. Anastacia soon healed and started to write her new album (Anastacia) which was only 9 months after she had been diagnosed (september 2003). Now that she is in full health anastacia has set up a fund to help raise awarness and funds for breast cancer. The anastacia fund is more geared at younger women who are striken and who have no family history of the disease.
